Kids always want support from the people closest to them

My sister is a workaholic and so is my brother in law. They have a beautiful fifteen year old girl who is in the swimming team. The girl is really good at swimming and I know this because I went to all her swimming tournaments. Her parents never showed up even once. My niece was really good at swimming and from what I have heard she is the one who practices the longest. She always yearns that she would get attention from her parents but this never happens. There was a time she got really depressed by this and she even stopped doing well. The swim team has a sport psychologist whom the girls can talk to. When she was asked what the matter was, she said that she never felt supported. The sport psychologist made her notice that I was always there for her. I always dropped her at practice, and picked her up and never missed any of her tournaments. This revelation made her cheer up and she stopped sulking and began appreciating what she had and this increased her performance.
